Black Sox hit 8 homers in 2 wins!
The Freeport Black Sox had a great week at the Ballpark. In 2 games this week against the Sauk Centre Titans and Sauk Rapids Jimmy’s the Black Sox hit 8 homers. 3 of them where supplied by the powerful bat of Grant Hess. With the resent power surge one thing that has gotten overlooked is the fact that the pitchers also threw shutouts in both games.
Wednesday, June 24th in Elrosa: The Black Sox got a strong performance from Rob Mettenberg as he went the distance in the 11-0 win over Sauk Centre. On the offesive side of the ball Chris Roering hit his first homer since the -5 aluminum bats era and Grant Hess hit 2 homers to lead the attack.
Saturday, June 27th in Sauk Rapids: The Black Sox pounded out 4 home runs in the third inning. Grant Hess started it out with a Grand Slam which was followed by a three run shot by Eric Eveslage, a 2 run shot by Ryan Tschida, and a 2 run shot by Troy Frieler. Chad Hess added a double off the fence that would have completed the home run cycle in the inning. Chad Hess would later make up for it by hitting a 3 run bomb which was probably the longest homer of the game in the 4th inning. In the end the Black Sox put 17 runs up against Jimmy’s which allow Nate Winter to cruise to a great win. Winter threw 5 innings of 2 hit ball to get the win.
