Freeport Black Sox

Baseball played the right way

Black Sox lose two league games this weekend.

The Black Sox streak of 3 consecutive Lakewood wins to begin the season came to a end this weekend. On Friday night the Black Sox played the Granite City Grays at Dick Putz Field in St Cloud. With the exception of the 2 inning in which Black Sox starter Nate Klaphake gave up 4 runs it was a very well pitched game. Peter Burg went the distance for the Grays. Burg was very effenctive at keeping the potent Black Sox lineup off balance. In the End the Grays came out victorius with a 4-1 win.

In the second game of the weekend the Black Sox again traveled to Dick Putz Field but this time it was to play the American League leading St Cloud Othropedic Ice. In what was expected to be a low scoring pitchers dual turned out to be high scoring, high hit total game with Ortho capitalizing on more opportunities. The Black Sox ended up losing the game 9-5 but they actually pounded out 13 hits in the loss. With the loss the Black Sox fall to 3-2 in the Lakewood and 6-3 overall.
